iPROsoft Version 3.00 Release Announcement
Mark Gravolin, CEO iPROsoft Pty Ltd, 11th February 2009
The Version 3.00 release cycle has commenced. Version 3.00 marks a turning point for iPROsoft. For some years now we have been researching and developing with new software tools and databases. Version 3.00 is the first release of iPROsoft to offer Microsoft SQL as an optional back-end.
Many of our customers have known about our work with Microsoft SQL. They have all been very encouraging. They can see the advantages of interoperability and easier integration to their office software and some are interested in working with other software and devices that can communicate with iPROsoft because of the Microsoft SQL database.
Our conclusion was that the case to standardise on Microsoft SQL as our database back-end is compelling and so that’s the direction iPROsoft is taking. Over the next four years or so we will be developing new software products with Microsoft SQL as the only back-end. After that we will open back up to a spectrum of other supported databases.
The software tool set is also a very significant issue. Our investigation has concluded with the selection of C#.Net as the tool set for ongoing new software development and for the overhaul of existing programs. Works are well underway on the new iPROsoft reporting system which we will see as a prototype released for those interested in Version 3.00 and fully released with Version 3.10 in October 2009.
This combination of C#.Net and Microsoft SQL permits a migration of iPROsoft such that our customers will receive annual upgrades which primarily incorporate revisions crafted in C#.Net. This is the only risk free strategy for the delivery of a new technology.
iPROsoft Pty Ltd has managed its development software library very well. The existing software is readily maintainable and has been steadily revised to take advantage of Microsoft SQL. iPROsoftis compatible with Microsoft SQL which gives us the luxury of options going forward in the take-up of C#.Net, with all options having no risk exposure. Our customers will experience a steady uptake of advantages flowing from the new technology. Conversely the customers of a few other software companies will experience no steady uptake, but a heavy-side release of new technology after a compressed development cycle and for the customer, a great deal of risk.
In addition to the background work required to yield the Microsoft SQL outcome, Version 3.00 contains functionality extension, enhancement and fine tuning. iPROsoft Pty Ltd publishes a detailed list of each upgrade content.
